Hand crafted guitar resonators and acoustic lapsteels, using traditional techniques and tools.
I have been making guitar instruments for 10 years spending 6 years as a student of luthier Nick blishen at a private workshop class in East Hertfordshire.
I have now set up my own workshop to build acoustic instruments that are available to the general public.
Specialising in early twentieth century steel string guitars and acoustic instruments.
All instruments are customizable and can be made from a variety of different woods.
each instrument takes 2-3 months to complete depending on the design and success of the build.
If you would like to discuss a custom build, instrument repair or any of the products in my inventory
I make instruments to look good and sound good the way they used to a long time ago
Custom builds take around two months to complete depending on the availability of components and if any problems arise in the build process.
All instruments are built following a proven plan a lot of focus goes into voicing the soundboard and the bracing resulting in a more responsive guitar
Each instrument can be made from a variety of wood species to accentuate different characteristics.
I have a range of tonewood's in stock including Hawaiian Koa, Tasmanian blackwood, mahogany, walnut and spruce.
I use an oil based finish putting down very thin layers this I believe helps the soundboard to move in turn moving more air giving a better sound.
The neck, back and sides tend to have more coats building up a satin finish
